Taxify Troubleshooting

Overview

If you encounter a Taxify error, use the table below to find a potential solution:

Error Cause Solution
Simpro Premium has encountered an error contacting Taxify. Please try again later or contact Simpro support if the issue persists. Error encountered while communicating with Taxify's API. Contact Simpro support.
Please enter a valid site address for $siteName and try again. No site address has been entered. Check that the site address contains the correct Address, City, and State.
All cost centres on this job are locked or have an adjusted price, and tax cannot be calculated. Please unlock one or more cost centre(s) and try again. All of the cost centres are either locked, or have an adjusted price. Unlock the cost centre, or remove the adjusted price before calculating.
Could not verify address. Please check this address and try again. Taxify cannot verify the address. Check that the site address contains the correct Address, City, and State.
An error has occurred while calculating tax. This has been reported to Simpro Premium. Tax cannot be calculated for this job. A tax rate that is not expected was received from Taxify, and cannot be applied. Contact Simpro support.
This address could not be verified. Taxify has provided an approximate match for the address. Accept the address supplied by Taxify, or edit the site address to make sure it's correct.
Sub-total on the tax calculation modal does not match sub-total on the job. Taxify could not calculate tax on all cost centres and has excluded items where tax could not be calculated. Unlock any locked cost centres on the job, and edit the site address to make sure it is correct.
Sub-total on the tax calculation modal does not match sub-total on the job, and the job has a discount, fee or membership discount. Taxify has calculated tax excluding discounts, fees and membership discounts. These are applied after tax calculation is complete and confirmed.  
Tax on the tax calculation modal does not match the tax on the job after tax has been confirmed, by just a few cents. Taxify has calculated an approximation. Once the tax is confirmed and applied to the job it may differ by a few cents due to rounding.  
To ensure transactions are correctly posted to your accounting package, please make sure the tax codes in Simpro Premium match the tax codes in your accounting package. Not all Taxify tax codes have tax codes entered against them in System A screenshot of a schedule icon with a grey calendar icon and an arrow. > Setup > Tax Codes > Taxify. Ensure that your accounting package tax codes are entered into the Taxify tax codes in System Setup before posting transactions.

If Taxify returns a tax value that is different than expected:

Cause Solution
Incorrect origin address details in Taxify Contact Simpro Support to update your origin address.
Incorrect taxability code setup Confirm that the Taxability code selected in customers, system setup defaults and against catalog items, pre-builds, labor rates, service fees, prepaid blocks, one-off items, and memberships used on the job are correct before calculating tax again.
Incorrect site address Check site address in Simpro Premium and edit to ensure it is correct before calculating tax again.
