Set Up Assets

Overview

Customer assets are equipment installed at customer sites that your business services regularly. Use customer assets to store information such as make, model and serial numbers. You can also keep track of your installation and maintenance history including test readings. If you use Maintenance PlannerClosed An add-on that tracks customer assets and alerts you when they are due to be serviced., you need to do additional setup.

Asset types

Assets are organised in groups called asset types. Each asset type allows you to create unique custom fields for recording information relevant to those assets, as well as unique test readings to collect important information during scheduled maintenance.

To create asset types if you are maintaining assets using Maintenance Planner, see How to Create Asset Types.

Service levels

Service levels determine the service and testing frequency for an asset. When you assign service levels to asset types, you can create failure points for the technician to select when testing to explain why the asset failed, and add recommendations to failure points to suggest how to rectify the failure.
