Stripe Payments FAQs
Overview
After setting up Stripe Payments, you can process card payments for your customers in Simpro Premium, and your customers can pay through the customer portal, or online.
Before contacting Simpro support with a question, please read our frequently asked questions below.
You will need to sign up for a Stripe account when setting up the integration in Simpro Premium. Go to System > Setup > Integrations > Stripe to get started. Learn more in How to Set Up Simpro Payments Powered by Stripe.
Visit the Simpro and Stripe Integration page for details on pricing in different countries to determine how much is being charged per transaction. In Simpro Premium go to System > Setup > Accounts > Payment Methods and open a payment method associated with Stripe to amend the payment method’s Credit Card Fee to accommodate this amount.
Note that Stripe applies their processing fee to the entire payment amount applied, including the finance charge set in Simpro Premium. Therefore, if your finance charge in Simpro Premium is set to the same percentage as the Stripe processing fee, the Stripe processing fee applied to the transaction is larger than your calculated finance charge in Simpro Premium.
No, you must create a dedicated Stripe account during the integration process. However, you can use the same email address that you’ve used to sign up with Stripe previously.

You are able to record payments which are then able to be managed in Simpro Premium without Stripe. However, to process actual in-person payments you must have an integrated payment provider such as Stripe.
Yes, Stripe is available using terminals in New Zealand.
Direct Debit through Stripe Payments is only available for Simpro Premium.
There are transaction fees for using Stripe. Visit the Simpro and Stripe Integration page for details on pricing in different countries to determine how much is being charged per transaction.
Pricing for terminals varies based on your country. Stripe Terminals Prices information is available in your Stripe account or on the Stripe website.
Stripe for Simpro Mobile FAQ
You can record that a payment is made in Simpro Mobile without having Stripe integration. If you have an external system for receiving payments, you can continue using it, but if you want to process a payment with a credit or debit card through Simpro Mobile, you need an integration with Stripe.
The Stripe application is optimised so that it does not use an excessive amount of data. This means there isn’t much difference in terms of data or power usage between running Simpro Mobile with or without Stripe. However with a Stripe Terminal this requires a bluetooth connection to Mobile devices so be mindful of this.
Not that to consider is that using Bluetooth devices, such as a Stripe Reader/Terminal, can drain your device’s battery at a faster rate. So it is recommended to turn off your Bluetooth while you are not processing payments, to conserve the battery effectively if that is an issue.
You can issue a refund in the Stripe Point of Sales application for the customers to get their money back. But this feature is not currently available in Simpro Mobile so any refunds issued will not be recorded automatically in Simpro Mobile, or Simpro Premium. To make sure your records are consistent, you need to process the refund back in the office using Simpro Premium. Learn more in Invoicing Overview.
You can turn off invoicing and payments for individual users in Simpro.
The Simpro Security group option - Take Payments applies to Stripe Payments as well. Go to System > Setup > Security Groups > Simpro Mobile Security Groups > open the relevant group > Service Module > Invoicing to access the permission. By revoking access to recording payments you can also revoke access to processing Stripe Payments.
Stripe offers a variety of terminals to collect in-person card payments that vary per country. Please visit the Stripe Dashboard for ordering details and country specific pricing information.
Only Terminals with Bluetooth Connections are supported by Simpro Mobile.
At this time if you plan to take payments in the field with Stripe through Simpro Mobile, you’ll need the Stripe hardware. Tap to pay will be made available in a future Simpro release. This will make it possible to take payments without terminals. Stripe offers tap to pay in Australia, UK and US for both Apple and Android. Tap to pay is limited to Android in NZ.
You do not need the Stripe hardware to take payments in the office or allow customers to make payments using a link.
Stripe terminals connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth connection. Learn more in Stripe Terminals.
You are able to place an order for a Terminal in your Stripe account. Go to Your Dashboard to login.
It may take between two-seven business days for the money to land in your account if processing payments through Stripe depends on your bank and region. Time varies as follows:
- AU up to 2 business days
- NZ up to 4 business days
- UK up to 7 calendar days
- US up to 2 business days
